You are worthy, O Lord,
To receive glory and honor and power;
For You created all things,
And by Your will they exist and were created.

-Revelation 4:11

Welcome to my blog and thanks for visiting! I grew up in the quaint city of Athens, AL. As a child, visiting the farm of my grandparents always elicited a peaceful, happy feeling for me. I acquired a fascination with the beauty of the simple things in the country and the great outdoors. One of my childhood dreams was to grow up and someday live in the country and raise a family there.

Today's Job

I thought I would share today's job with you by writing a poem.

Today's Job
by Kay Marsh

Sun beating unmercifully down on the ground....
The scent of freshly cut grass...
dried to a crisp
a blessing of summer
Click, Clack, Click
and
M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M....
The hum of the tractor creeping through the fields.
As the seriously sharp blades SNATCH up the grass
and SLING them into the baler,
It's absolutely amazing
how the simple machine
s-p-i-n-s the grass again and again,
around and around and around,
and then
suddenly
with no warning
out POPS a perfect bale of
MILLET!
Right onto the ground.
Anyone ready to load?

  1. Kay,
I think that is a great poem. For some reason I find it hard to write poems and if I ever do write them, they take me a long time! Your poem is great and explains what you are doing so clearly, as if I was there. Great job! Do you live on a lot of land? DO you have any aminals on your land, if so?

  2. Hi, Kristina!
Thanks for the encouragement!! I do love to read and write poems! Actually, the poem was probably easier for me than just blogging; I have a hard time coming up with topics some days.
Our home sits on about 3 acres and then down the road we have 60 acres. We have 3 dogs, 1 turle, ducks, geese, and chickens. Our family cat of 15 years just passed away last summer, and we haven't been able to replace her. ): We have just downsized to build new fences, but usually we have goats, turkeys, and peacocks, too (check out the pictures in my last blog).

Thanks for checking in on my blog!!
    Kay
